The Lagniappe Project (pronounced lan'yap, a Cajun word meaning that extra something one gives unexpectedly) is the philanthropic funding branch of the Baltimore Lyceum, a non-profit educational organization based in Baltimore. The mission of the project is to provide life enriching activities and classes to people with life-altering conditions. These include mental illness, chronic or terminal illness, physical of perceptual handicaps or developmental disabilities. The project will undertake connecting agencies and community centers working with these populations with people in the community skilled in providing educational and fun activities in a variety of areas. This first year we will be focussing on bringing the arts to the mental health community, but other programs and populations will be included as time goes on. See the Grants page for details of Lagniappe Project
